TVNZ2’s new reality show Heartbreak Island is being filmed at a beach resort in Fiji.
The broadcaster has been desperate to keep the location a secret — but 16 singletons, a camera crew and Matilda Rice have set tongues wagging.
Sources saw Rice in a resort foyer several times and noted camera crews moving in and out with plenty of young, good looking, well-toned bodies.
The hotel fits the show’s premise of tropical fun in the sun.
Spy understands accommodation at the resort ranges from the private villas to beachfront spa bures — a must for the romance factor of the show. There are a number of pools on offer as well as lush surrounds and magical ocean views, with a range of leisure activities.
Some of the filming is taking place on a nearby island, which can be hired for cocktail functions and dinners. This week Heartbreak Island co-host Rice took some time out when her fiance Art Green came to play, posting to Instagram.
“Just a couple of fiances doing fiance things. #needtosaythatwordmore #onlyasmallwindowwhenican”.
“It was always going to be tough keeping the location a secret and it looks like the cat is out of the bag. We wanted a tropical location for the setting of Heartbreak Island and Fiji was the perfect choice. We’ve enjoyed filming at multiple resorts and locations throughout the country and look forward to showcasing these on the show”, a spokesman for TVNZ told Spy.
Filming is expected to wrap up soon.
