After a successful week on the courts for the ASB Women’s Classic, tonight sees the launch for the men at the Players Party on the rooftop of the SO Hotel.
The ones to watch on and off the court this week will be headed by the most famous man of Stanley St, Spanish star David Ferrer, 36, who is using the Classic as part of his farewell tour.
Fabio Fognini, fiery, passionate and entertaining on court, is the Italian No.1 and world No. 13 and is the face of Armani underwear alongside his wife Flavia Pennetta, a former No. 1 herself. American John Isner, world No. 10, is feared for his giant serve.
And watch out for Gael Monfils, the world No. 30, who is dubbed The Showman and earned serious respect at last year’s classic for his giant foot slide.
ATEED is making sure the players get the best of Auckland while juggling their playing schedules. Monfils had a Sky Tower Walk planned yesterday and Isner also has had the chance to show his talents stretch into the kitchen after having a cook-off with friend of the classic, Josh Emett, at Ostro.
Other off-court activities have seen Denis Shapovalov having a shopping experience at Partridge Jewellers and TAG Heuer, and Hyeon Chung enjoying a chopper ride to Babich Winery for great hospitality.
This week, two greats will meet at the Moet & Chandon Racquet Club, with Ferrer set for a chat with All Black star Beauden Barrett.
And on Friday night a big A-List crowd is expected at the Moet Ice Pool Party, where some players will be in attendance.
