Matilda Rice has confirmed she won't be competing in Dancing With The Stars NZ this year, as she is expecting her first child with Art Green.
The pair, who met on season one of The Bachelor NZ, shared their announcement with Woman's Day, following news they got married in a secret ceremony on Friday.
Matilda said: "We're having a baby. Art and I are absolutely over the moon. We always knew we wanted to start a family, but never imagined we'd be lucky enough to share our special day with our wee son or daughter. It's truly so special to have all three of us here."
She also told Newshub she was "gutted" to have to pull out of DWTS but added that she was "looking forward to cheering all the other dancers on from the sidelines during the show later this year".
While it's happy news for one of NZ's favourite couples, it could be a double blow for Mediaworks as its other DWTS star, Mike McRoberts could be forced to pull out as well.
The news anchor is currently trying to recover from a knee injury, which has forced him to take a break from marathon running.
"I've had injuries before but normally they would come right after a couple of weeks rest. But by just after Christmas I'd had six weeks off running and my knee still hadn't improved I knew it was serious," he told Newshub.
"An X-Ray and MRI scan later confirmed I'd torn my meniscus - the cartilage inside my knee joint. To be honest, I shed a few tears," Mike says.
"I've worked pretty hard towards completing my first Ironman and to have to pull out of the March event was really upsetting."
McRoberts says he is “now racing to try and be fit in time” for Dancing with the Stars NZ.
"I've been working hard with rehab, cycling and Pilates. I've also had a procedure where your own blood is injected back into the knee socket in order to speed up the recovery.
