This Sunday night we’ll be treated to the first episode of Dancing with the Stars NZ and the delights that come with an hour of live television.

Rumour has it the line up has cruelly been nicknamed Dancing With the Staff at MediaWorks HQ, with staff members Sam Hayes, Robert Rakete and Roger Farrelly signed up to dance, facing off against former reality stars Gilda Kirkpatrick, Zac Franich and Naz Khanjani, as well as politicians David Seymour and Marama Fox. Cancer survivor Jess Quinn, former cricketer Chris Harris and children’s TV star Suzy Cato round out the lineup.

These Kiwi celebs will be shimmying and shaking their way around the d-floor all to raise money for their chosen charity.

Promising frills and spills aplenty, here are our predictions for Dancing with the Stars New Zealand 2018:

Gilda and Naz friends or foes?

Both ladies are notorious for their strong personalities and sassy attitude so don’t be surprised if this pair come to blows off the dancefloor. Iranian-born Gilda could ignore Naz and just keep to herself or they will unite as Persian queens? Only time will tell.

Zac Franich will take a tumble

Zac may be a champion surf lifesaver (in bare feet) but he certainly isn’t a natural with his dancing shoes on.

From what we have seen in the preview teaser video of him dancing, he looks like a sweaty, uncomfortable mess.

Sorry Zac, you may have to pull out a few red roses to impress the judges.

David Seymour and his smile have secrets

Politicians always have a few sneaky moves up their sleeve and David Seymour is our pick for the dark horse of the competition.

That strange little smile makes us think he has a secret to hide; perhaps a childhood of ballroom dance classes we don’t know about?

Watch this space.

Robert Rakete will surprise us all

A face for radio? Not Robert Rakete.

We think Rob is rocking his white singlet, fedora and silver sequined blazer like it’s no big deal.

He even says he’s been enjoying his ‘spray tans’ so this competition might be his time to shine.

Sam Hayes will be the sweetheart

Let’s face it, Sam Hayes sparkles even when she’s reading the most serious of news. Add in some sequins, tassels and spandex and there will be no stopping the dazzling redhead.

With with her perfect pearly whites and long limbs, Sam will undoubtedly be the crowd favourite. Her biggest threat? Suzy Cato.
