Dream duo Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio look set to star alongside each other on the big screen again.

It's been five years since blockbuster hit The Wolf of Wall Street, their first film together and the Australian actors big break in Hollywood, and now reports out of the US suggest Quentin Tarantino is enlisting the pair for his new film.

The plot line is being kept under wraps but US media reports it is a pulp fiction movie set around the brutal Charles Manson murders in Los Angeles in the 1960s, reports

Manson, who died in November last year, was the mastermind behind the brutal slayings of pregnant actor Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, and six other people in August 1969.

The maniac had ordered members of his cult — which he dubbed "The Family" — to execute people as part of a race war he had dubbed 'Helter Skelter', taken from the Beatles song of the same name.

The film has been picked up by Sony and already has a release date of August 9, 2019.

Tarantino is understood to have asked Robbie to play Tate, the young 'star of the future' who was stabbed 16 times by one of Manson's followers.

It will be DiCaprio's first film since he won an Oscar for The Revenant in 2016.

It's understood the movie doesn't centre around Manson, but will instead focus on a male TV actor, which DiCaprio is likely to play, who's had one hit series and is looking for a way to get into the film business. The murder of Tate plays as a backdrop to the main story.

Tom Cruise is reportedly also in talks to play a part in the film.

It would mean another hit movie for Robbie, who is taking tinsel town by storm having just won a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.

The 27-year-old from the Gold Coast is also a hot favourite to bag an Oscar nomination for the movie.
