The ZM team will be popping champagne corks tonight as they celebrate a new milestone - topping half a million listeners for the first time.

The station gained close to 15,000 new listeners in the latest GfK Commercial Radio Survey, leading to the epic result.

Breakfast hosts Fletch, Vaughan and Megan also have reason to celebrate - as they remain the most popular radio show with Kiwi millenials.

"The ZM team give it their all every day and love what they do. This shows listeners hear that and want to be part of the experience," said chief content officer Mike McClung.

Urban station Flava will also be joining the celebrations after they picked up 19,000 new listeners.

Both Mai FM and Flava saw significant growth this survey, reflecting the growing popularity of RnB and hip hop with Kiwi listeners.

MediaWorks will also be happy with their result, which despite losing 21,000 listeners saw The Edge come out on top as the music station with the most listeners nationwide.
