TVNZ is sticking with a recent tradition of choosing existing reporters and presenters to host their lifestyle and entertainment shows, selecting Seven Sharp reporter Matt Chisholm to front Survivor NZ.
With Miriama Kamo hosting Kiwi Living and Peter Williams at the helm of Mastermind NZ, Spy can exclusively reveal Chisholm will host the upcoming New Zealand version of the Survivor franchise, which will begin filming later this year.
With his enthusiasm for being up for just about anything on Seven Sharp, Chisholm is a good fit for the Survivor brand.
The forever cheerful reporter has been on several adventures since joining TVNZ - he was even happy to get nude on camera for a story about a new naturist camp earlier this year.
The 38-year-old has settled down somewhat of late, having married his partner Ellen Cairns in a beautiful ceremony at The Homestead in Omakau in January.
The couple have since confirmed they are expecting their first child later in the year. Presumably, Chisholm will be finished up with Survivor NZ filming duties on a deserted island somewhere by the time the baby's due date rolls around.
Ever since TVNZ announced they were making a local version of Survivor, speculation has been rife over who the host will be.
Former Bachelor NZ star Chrystal Chenery made a play for the role when she falsely announced she was the show's new face. And just last week, Clarke Gayford told Spy that Survivor NZ would be a dream gig he'd "totally be into".
No doubt both will be disappointed to hear the job has gone elsewhere.
