Lorde says she’s heading back to America with one goal in mind – to finish her much hyped, long-delayed second album.
The Kiwi artist posted a heartwarming picture on Instagram this morning celebrating her best friend’s new baby, before announcing her return to the States to polish off her second album.
In the picture she is tenderly holding her new godson, Oscar Robin.

According to the caption, Ella was present at his birth four weeks ago and “was lucky enough to witness the delivery of my beautiful best friend’s baby boy.”
“We’ve been friends for 10 years – I can’t really describe to you how emotional and life-changing it was to be a part of this with her. Had my last cuddle yesterday and now I’m back at work in the states finishing this record, but I thought you might like to meet my perfect godson, Oscar Robin,” she wrote.
Yellich-O’Connor also posted before she left about how much she has been enjoying being home in New Zealand over the Christmas holidays and relishing in simple everyday tasks.
“Really enjoying domestic bulls*** like toast and folding towels before I’m back to thumbing through the room service menu in the middle of the night.”
Lorde’s second album is yet to have a confirmed release date, but she has been named on the line-up for two major US festivals later in the year, Coachella and Governor’s Ball.
