New Zealand’s hottest step dad will be back on Kiwi screens next month. Gangly Step Dave star Jono Kenyon, 27, has turned into an LA hunk in the fitness capital and is set to fluster the ladies of Weld in the third series of 800 Words.
Spending most of his on-screen time half-naked, the actor braved winter temperatures of 10C for his role as beefcake personal trainer, Dwayne.
“Despite leaving 30C+ weather in Los Angeles for the bitter chill of Auckland winter, it was nice to be in front of the camera doing what I find most fun.” Kenyon told Spy from his LA home.
“Hopefully my attempt to not be physically shivering during my scenes will go down smoothly.”
The UK-born Kiwi resident has several projects on the horizon, but was still eager to come home to where it all started.
“I was super excited to get the opportunity to head back to NZ after being away for almost a year, especially to work on a show that I know my mum likes! I wouldn’t be here in LA now were it not for the opportunities the NZ industry offered me, so when this gig came about I didn’t hesitate to jump on a plane and fly back for a month or so.”
We hear the trip was good too for his long-distance romance with Auckland-based website agency owner Stephanie Kennard, who worked with Kenyon on her mental health charity Monsoon June and has been up to visit him in the bright lights of Hollywood.
Next year fitness is the go for both of them. They are currently training for the LA marathon. Kenyon really is putting down roots in LA. He is about to drive to Arizona to pick up his new puppy Daphine, the perfect accessory for hiking the Hollywood hills.
