Daniel Bedingfield has just paid homage to his Kiwi roots with a brand new tattoo.

The Gotta Get Thru This hitmaker is currently based in Los Angeles but is from New Zealand, and he recently shared a torso-baring selfie on Instagram, showcasing his newest inking of a Kiwi bird on his chest, the DailyMail reports.

Lifting up his top, Daniel displayed his eye-catching tattoo which displayed the national bird cut in half to reveal a Kiwi fruit, bringing a double meaning to his caption: "Kiwi".

And while his new body art commanded immediate attention, eagle-eyed fans caught another very important detail: His ring-baring hand got his followers talking as they commented whether he had got hitched.

One fan asked: "Wedding ring?". Before others commended his "amazing" new inking in the midst of his three other torso tattoos.

The singer had kept his private life under wraps during his career and even more so since stepping out of the limelight, with his possible other half yet unknown to the public.

MailOnline have contacted his rep for comment.

Daniel became a household name in the UK after he topped the charts with Gotta Get Thru This, then went on to produce popular tracks If You're Not The One and Never Gonna Leave Your Side and even bagged himself a BRIT Award.

Although earning four UK number ones, in the mid-2000s, the older brother of Natasha Bedingfield faded away from the spotlight before being cast as a judge on X Factor New Zealand in 2013.
