Breaking up is hard to do and for Kiwi acting mega star Manu Bennett, (Spartacus, Lord of The Rings, Arrow and The Shannara Chronicles) and his gorgeous partner of 10 years, charity girl-about-town, Karin Horen, calling quits on their 10-year relationship in December was exactly that.
Horen, 43, is at the family home in Greenhithe and Bennett is living in Henderson, close to the filming of Chronicles. They are sharing parenting responsibilities for their three young girls.
Bennett, 47, has had a global jet-set life with career commitments and a family trip to Peru last year was not quite enough to hold them together.
Bennett confirmed the split to Spy but had no further comment.
Horen has fought two bouts of breast cancer. The last one was four years ago, after which she had eight surgeries. During that time she founded Paddle for Hope, a paddleboarding charity that helps cancer patients. Horen also confirmed the split to Spy, saying she was happy to move forward.
It hasn’t been an easy week though. On Sunday an infection on one of her scars required surgery.
Horen told Spy: “It’s the fear of dying, that you want to live life to the fullest for yourself and your children.”
She came through the surgery well and intends continuing her charity work — but most of all she wants to be the best mum she can to her girls.
