Samantha Hayes has joined her Newshub 6pm co-host Mike McRoberts in the single-life stakes.
Last November, Spy reported that McRoberts had separated after more than 20 years of marriage from wife, journalist Paula Penfold. And now sources have told Spy that Hayes has been letting her hair down as a single woman again.
Last August, Hayes, 32, was our cover girl, with her handsome beau, scientist Jacob Anderson. It was the Antarctic Continent that the environmental journalist and the paleoclimate geologist had in common, having originally met in 2014.
“Jacob and I have known each other for ages and earlier this year we reconnected when I was doing a story on the late Sir Peter Blake and he was working for the Trust. We’re taking things one day at a time and enjoying life,” Hayes told Spy at the time.
After time at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and cycling for charity in Sri Lanka, McRoberts, 51, and Hayes were reunited on screen this week, but neither were keen to discuss their single status. Both newsreaders have recently upped their Instagram game — in late January, fitness crazy McRoberts turned heads by posting a shirtless photo on the beach in Wellington, after doing his first Ocean Swim.
