Rebecca Wright is moving to New York to take over Jack Tame’s role as TVNZ’s US correspondent.
The mother-of-one will move her young family to New York in late January in a move that will see her “swapping the beach for the snow”.
In a statement, Wright said it was a dream job.
“I'm thrilled to be heading to the US at such a fascinating time politically and socially for the country.
“I can't wait to take Kiwis on a journey into Donald Trump's America and get a first-hand look at how his Presidency is going to shape America, and the rest of the world.”
Wright will be moving over with long-time partner Cam Williams and their one-year-old daughter Scarlett.
The former Campbell Live and Paul Henry reporter says she is most looking forward to the breadth and depth of the role.
“I'll be busy covering everything from the Presidency, to the Oscars, to the America's Cup. I've always wanted to spend some time living in the US and I'm excited to be able to do that, while keeping on reporting for the 1 NEWS audience.”
The role became vacant after Jack Tame returned to New Zealand to co-host the revamped Breakfast in September alongside Hilary Barry.
Sports reporter Kimberlee Downs has also been confirmed as 1 News’ Australia correspondent, who will take over from Ruth Wynn-Williams.
