What goes on tour stays on tour, right?

Well, not quite when you're touring in New Zealand. As this handful of celebrities found out, it can be hard to keep your partying a secret when you’re doing it in a town as small as Auckland.

As Adele and Justin Bieber both get ready to hit Mt Smart Stadium this month, we look back at what some of their celebrity colleagues have got up to while in town.

Robbie Williams

Who could forget Robbie Williams' two-day tryst with Kiwi model Robin Reynolds all the way back in 2000?

While in Auckland to perform for his fans, Williams met Reynolds in the bar of the Metropolis Hotel and was kept, er, busy for the next couple of days.

Details of the romp were published in the now defunct News of the World paper, where Reynolds was famously described as a "rampant Maori".

"We hardly had time for food," she told the newspaper of her days spent with Williams. "At one point, I was so hungry I grabbed one of his plums."

Reynolds, who is now happily married in Tauranga, said Williams didn't mind her kiss'n'tell, "as long as I said nice things".

Miley Cyrus

Pop star Miley Cyrus also caused a bit of a stir during her visit to Auckland as part of her Bangerz tour in 2014.

Not shy about her love of marijuana, the former Hannah Montana star allegedly relaxed with a joint at her luxury Pullman Hotel suite following her show at Vector Arena.

Aucklanders Abbey Cameron and Emma Walsh were amongst those invited back to Cyrus' hotel suite that evening, with Walsh telling Spy the singer was "chill".

"She laid low and didn't say much while we were in the hotel together but she said she loves New Zealand and wants to come back for the summer. We talked about MTV and she was just hanging out in baggy cut-offs and no shoes. She loved the New Zealand weed."

Quentin Tarantino

Director Quentin Tarantino made the most of his Auckland stay when he arrived for the New Zealand premiere of his movie The Hateful Eight last year.

He and the film's Kiwi star, Zoe Bell, made a splash at a private party at K Road's Las Vegas club following the event.

Tarantino certainly enjoyed the burlesque show performed in his honour, reportedly giving the performers a standing ovation – after peeling a stocking off one of the dancers during the show. He also may or may not have had a dancer’s foot in his mouth at one point.

Selena Gomez

More recently, it seems the Seafarers Members Club is the venue of choice for visiting stars who want to party while touring in Auckland – including Justin Bieber, Oprah Winfrey and the late, great Prince.

Pop princess Selena Gomez and her entourage had quite the celebration there in August last year, reportedly exhausting the bar’s supply of tequila.

The party, which didn’t wind down until past 3am, included a massive delivery of pizza (with extra-hot sauce) and a whole lot of dancing.

A Seafarers rep told Spy that both Gomez and her support act Joe Jonas were "down to earth people with real humility".

Chris Martin

Coldplay also chose to party at Seafarers following their latest Auckland show in December last year – although frontman Chris Martin was out-partied by his own parents on that occasion.

Around 70 guests were invited to that particular soiree, which also ended after 3am (with Martin leaving before his mum and dad did).

So, what will Adele and the Bieb get up to in Auckland while they're here for their respective shows?

Adele's celebrations may be relatively low-key given she's rumoured to be pregnant with her second baby.

But it could go either way with Bieber.

Controversy often follows this young star and with reports out of Australia suggesting he is winning friends and influencing people by telling them they "make him sick", it remains to be seen if he’ll have his party pants on for this visit.
