World-famous photographer Gilles Bensimon, who is credited with discovering Elle (The Body) Macpherson and later marrying her, has chosen rising Kiwi model Eden Bristowe, 18, to be the face and body of a global campaign for COCOOIL.
Bensimon was the international creative director and chief photographer of Elle magazine and has photographed supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista, and A-list actors and entertainers, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Sharon Stone, Keira Knightley, Madonna, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.
In two weeks he will shoot Bristowe in Noosa for the Australian brand, before the pair get together in New Zealand for a media meet-and-greet at the end of the month.
“Gilles has become involved with the business at COCOOIL and wants to take the next campaign to the next level, so the Noosa shoot is a huge project,”
Paul Ellis, the PR maestro guiding the campaign, told Spy.
“He had seen some of Eden’s work and out of hundreds of the world’s top models, instinctively knew she was the one.”
Bristowe’s international career began when she opened for Vivienne Westwood at London Fashion Week in 2014. She is now based between London and New York, working with top international photographers such as Ellen von Unwerth, who shot her for the G-Star campaign, and French lingerie brand Chantal Thomass. Bristowe recently worked with top English photographer Rankin for the Triumph lingerie brand. She has appeared in the pages of Hunger, Marie Claire UK and 7POST magazine.
COCOOIL fits in well with other brands she is working for, such as Speedo, H&M, Topshop and Seafolly.
Andrea Plowright, of the 62 Models agency, which Bristowe is signed to, said the modelling world was going crazy for the teen.
“From the moment Eden and her mother walked into 62, I knew Eden was something special, and I have been proved right,” Plowright said. “Eden has just turned 18 and it’s just the beginning of her international modelling career.”
