To combat Three’s dominance in the local reality TV stakes, TVNZ has two great programmes coming out this year.
Next month Survivor NZ goes to air, and later in the year My Kitchen Rules NZ will begin, with chefs Manu Feildel and Pete Evans hosting.
Spy can reveal two of the MKR NZ contestants — 26-year-olds Jaryd Gray and Ben Cliffe. Best mates in the North Shore soccer world and in life, these two don’t take themselves too seriously.
Spy hears the two thought they were applying for Come Dine With Me and found themselves competing to be professional chefs in MKR NZ.
“Their personalities certainly stood out more than their cooking ability, which they have worked hard to develop and improve as they set their sights on the formidable challenge that is My Kitchen Rules,” a friend told Spy.
Gray is single and looking forward to the profile. We hear both their charm and affability could only take them so far in the competition, so they had to take their competitiveness on the footy field into the kitchen.
After much practice, we hear they’ve become very good at cooking. So much so they would welcome their own cooking and lifestyle show after MKR NZ finishes.
