Three months after appearing as Archie Andrews in the CW network’s Riverdale, KJ Apa has a second season of the show under his belt and this week he hit one million Instagram followers.
The 19-year-old former Shortland Street star is arguably NZ’s most popular export in the US right now.
Last weekend, Apa rubbed shoulders with pop star Selena Gomez at her Netflix movie premiere of 13 Reasons Why at Paramount Pictures Studio in Los Angeles. Spy hears Apa met the star but was too shy to tell her who he was. Like she wouldn’t know!
Perhaps the infamous “snub” from Lorde has made him shy. Apa did, however, meet his twin at the party, former Glee star Myko Olivier. The resemblance sent both of their fans into a social media frenzy — the likeness is uncanny.
Olivier posted a picture with rocker, Courtney Love.
“Just to throw a spanner in the works — Spoiler Alert! Here’s a nice Season 2 Riverdale spoiler. Archie meets his long lost half-brother, whom he finds out is Josie’s secret lover and Courtney Love plays the other-mother!!!” He joked.
With a movie and a successful series happening, Apa is still driving forward with his main passion — music.
This week, he quietly posted a song called Pillowcase in the Sky to Youtube. He had previously recorded it with mate Matt Olo-Whaanga and his dad Keneti Apa — check it out, it’s good. And is the Kiwi actor putting down some roots? A few weeks back, when his mother Tessa Apa and her friend Sally Ridge visited KJ, they went house hunting in Santa Monica, checking out some cool pads.
Spy understands the star is yet to find the ultimate LA real estate investment.
