Kiwi actor Karl Urban and some of the key cast from Star Trek Beyond have found themselves somewhat addicted to Dubsmash.

To those not familiar with the concept, it’s a video messaging app where users can choose an audio recording or soundbite from movies, shows, music, and internet trends and record a video of themselves dubbing over that piece of audio. Basically it’s what most teenagers back in the day used to do using a mirror and a hairbrush!

Check out the hilarious video starring Chris Pine, John Cho, Zachary Quinto, the late Anton Yelchin and our own Karl Urban. The guys take the singing one step further and re-create scenes from famous music videos. Including, Urban playing a straw saxaphone during Careless Whisper. The crew also perform several tracks in their Star Trek uniforms. Urban also kept it local when he and Cho dubsmashed to Midnight Oil’s Beds are Burning whilst promoting the movie in Sydney.

The result is an entertaining and very funny 4 minutes.
