Do famous New Zealanders all use the same travel agent?
We're beginning to think that must be the case, after discovering five well-known Kiwis have coincidentally been holidaying in the same European city recently.
Famous for its tapas, the beach, Antoni Gaudi's architecture and a certain football team, the Spanish city of Barcelona has been a holiday destination for these stars this past week:
Matty McLean and Carl Fletcher
Breakfast weather presenter Matty McLean is in Barcelona this week, en route to the Glastonbury music festival in the UK, and with him for a little Spanish fiesta is ZM host Carl Fletcher.
The two broadcasters did what every visitor to the city does and got in line to see the famous Sagrada Familia – but the visit didn't go quite as smoothly as they would have liked.
After Fletcher was told he had to remove his beloved cap in the cathedral, McLean then managed to drop his sunglasses into a precarious spot while looking down at the large church service taking place. (The sunnies were eventually carefully plucked from the ledge by a couple of officials.)
Both men have enjoyed walking Barcelona’' beautiful streets during their stay. And cocktails. So many cocktails.
But if you can't have a cheeky blackberry mojito while on holiday in Spain, then when can you?
McLean and Fletcher may very well have passed by actress Hanna Tevita, who was also visiting La Sagrada Familia yesterday.
Tevita, who has left All Black partner Nehe Milner-Skudder at home for a month while she travels through Europe with three of her best friends, is currently in Barcelona after quick visits to London, Paris and Amsterdam.
As well as the cathedral, Tevita and her pals have checked out the famous Park Guell - and the beach.
Last week was ZM host PJ Harding's turn to enjoy Barcelona's beach with friends (in matching swimsuits, no less).
And when she wasn't at the beach, there was plenty of eating and drinking, from tapas in the Gothic Quarter to rooftop pizza and wine.
Harding has since moved on to Croatia for more eating, drinking and swimming in crystal-blue waters.
Finally, Three star Ben Boyce is also in Barcelona this week – albeit by himself and for work purposes.
The Jono and Ben star flew into the city to film an interview sans Jono, before enjoying a little sightseeing, paella and beer. By himself.
So it may not be a holiday, but as far as work trips go, it's still a step up from driving a tractor to Palmerston North, right?
