Dominic Bowden is back in the country to work on a new MediaWorks series – but can’t say what it is.
In the past, Bowden has hosted X Factor and Dancing With the Stars for MediaWorks.
The move comes as his hosting role on E! show The Hype comes to an end.
The series, which launched last October as a weekly half-hour programme, has been reduced to just two, five-minute bulletins. Bowden’s co-host Ksenija Lukich will now host the show solo, while Bowden will continue to interview stars for the show.
Executive producer Tess Marshall, also a Kiwi, told Spy the moves were designed to "keep the content fresher".
"It is all local news now - no Hollywood component like we had before. Because of that we are no longer using Dominic in the LA studio."
Bowden's next big interview for The Hype is with Matthew McConaughey, which will screen next month.
Recent months have seen him interview a number of Hollywood A-listers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
Bowden has been back in town for the last few weeks, but was over in Sydney yesterday when Spy caught up with him.
“We have lots of exciting announcements coming from the E! Channel over the next month. The change around in The Hype is perfect timing, I’ve just finished filming as backstage host for another season on Dancing with the Stars USA, America’s number 1 show.
“I am back home to take up another role hosting for MediaWorks, (watch this space,) as well as working the pages of the Woman’s Day.”
We look forward to seeing what comes next for the charismatic Kiwi.
