Stars of TV One’s upcoming six-part drama series Hillary will pay homage to Sir Edmund Hillary when they embark on a three-day trek of the Hillary Trail in the Waitakere Ranges.
Andrew Munro, (Hillary) Dean O’Gorman (George Lowe,) Darren Young (Tenzing Norgay) and fellow cast members Jared Turner, Tama Jarman and Kelson Henderson are set to brave the trail come rain or shine.
It’s something the guys discussed while they were filming in New Zealand and overseas.
Now they’re all back in Auckland, a week out from the series launch, they thought it was the perfect time to get together and “knock the bastard off” in the spirit of Hillary.
Munro is looking forward to some nice coastal views, good company and maybe the odd native bird or two.
O’Gorman is looking forward to getting away from any responsibility for a while and just enjoying being with his friends and the lush bush of the Waitakeres.
As the boys gear up to go, Turner and Munro believe O’Gorman will be the most likely to break in the wilderness.
“His legs are rather short, meaning he’ll have to take twice as many steps as everyone else,” Turner said.
Added Munro: “Having to probably help splint Dean’s limbs at some stage. Darren and Jared can carry him out though.”
Funnily, the only thing O’Gorman has said he is worried about is his castmates’ flatulence.
