A few familiar faces have applied for a place on Married at First Sight NZ — including a former Bachelor contestant.

More than 4000 singles in search of love have put their names forward. There were so many applicants that Three had to double its casting team just to get through them. Producers tell Spy the 25-40 year bracket is well catered for — but matches are still needed for older and same-sex couples.

Fans shouldn’t hold their breath to see the ex-bachelorette have another run of fame — Spy has heard she didn’t make the cut.

Spy has also learned that the show’s makers are keen to avoid the sartorial bloopers of the Australian version. Producers noted some ill-fitting gowns across the Tasman and have been courting local designers; one we are told has done heaps of celebrity weddings and the other has international links. We are guessing Jane Yeh or Trish Peng — only one designer will be chosen to dress and fit MAFS’ NZ brides.

Experts are almost all on board to begin the matching process and the Kiwi version will also have the communal vibe that made the last Aussie season so good. All the brides and grooms will be housed together in one big apartment complex. Expect explosive dinner parties, cat fights and hopefully some everlasting love.
