Congratulations to ex-pat Kiwi, Cardiff-based rugby player Gareth Anscombe and his beautiful girlfriend Serbian-born Kiwi, Milica Bubanja, who became engaged over the holidays. The former Auckland Blues player and his fiancee, an engineer adviser for Welsh Water, have been living together in Wales for several years. Spy thinks Anscombe may have got clucky after meeting his new baby niece Maia over Christmas, with the couple seeing in the New Year in Cardiff.
They have made the most of their OE, travelling to New York, Santorini, Mykonos and Tenerife and last weekend Anscombe proposed to Bubanja while holidaying in Barcelona.
After a few days of sightseeing and enjoying the food, Anscombe popped the question. When she said “yes”, Anscombe was over the moon. The pair posed for a selfie, with Bubanja proudly showing off her impressive diamond solitaire.
Bubanja has been in a romantic whirlwind, telling Spy: “It has been a very special few days and we wish we could re-create them all over again.”
Anscombe, who plays for the Cardiff Blues and was fast-tracked into the Welsh national team, enjoyed being back home last June for the Welsh tour.
Fingers crossed he gets a British Lions’ call-up for its New Zealand tour, so the pair can catch up with family and friends and celebrate.
Good wishes have already come from Anscombe’s mates back home, including All Black Beauden Barrett, media personality Jay Reeve and Go Pro celebrity Logan Dodds.
