Supermodel Elle Macpherson jetted into town on Wednesday to promote her new fashion lingerie line, Elle Macpherson Body. A catch-up with Bendon owner Eric Watson, also in town this week, was out of the question as his name and brand were not welcome in interviews.
Macpherson, 53, stayed in the best suite at the Hilton Hotel and quietly enjoyed room service on both nights of her stay. After inspecting her range in store at Farmers, on Thursday “The Body” and her new business partner, Melbourne-based Simon de Winter, made Seafarers Members’ club their home for the day, networking from the celebrity bar with media and industry people. Macpherson’s two favourite media peeps were Seven Sharp’s Toni Street and our own Kerre McIvor — although she took a shine to McIvor’s Newstalk ZB host Mark Dye, offering him some advice on life.
“She told me I didn’t need to worry about being 30, and that being 30 didn’t mean I had to grow up and start playing adult: feeling like I had to was just a phase that I would soon grow out of,” said Dye.
That night Macpherson invited Farmers’ staff to a soiree at the exclusive club.
She and de Winter are at the tail end of the junket after launching the range in Britain, the US, Australia and New Zealand with Melbourne, on Friday, their last promo visit.
