You know what they say. The couple that works out together stays together.
Or at least that's what these famous New Zealanders figure anyway.
From the super-silly to the super-competitive, we check out the fitness styles of a few of our famous Kiwi couples.
Super-synchronised: Maria Tutaia and (honorary Kiwi for these purposes) Israel Folau
One is an international netballer and the other is an international rugby player, so it's no surprise Maria Tutaia and partner Israel Folau are big on gym work.
And they recently showed off some impressive strength skills in a synchronised workout with personal trainer Sean Hughes. While Tutaia labelled the workout as "strength, conditioning and injury prevention training", Folau called it a recovery session.
But we can probably all agree the rest of us mere mortals would probably need another 'recovery session' of simply lying on the couch after strength work like this:
Super-competitive: Richie and Gemma McCaw
Former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw and his hockey star wife Gemma aren't afraid of a little competition with each other when it comes to exercise. (Gemma won their race to the top of Mt Maunganui just last week.)
With fitness playing a big part in both their work and play (they famously kicked off their honeymoon with a 20km run), the couple are just as happy hanging out together at the gym as they are during a run or hike in the great outdoors.
Super-variety: Art Green and Matilda Rice
With product endorsements and brand ambassadorships to think about, keeping up appearances is a big deal for original Bachelor NZ couple, Art Green and Matilda Rice.
Signing a contract to model underwear is no doubt quite good motivation to head out for a run, but Rice and Green actually look like they quite enjoy exercising.
These two obviously also subscribe to the "variety is the spice of life" sentiment, with workouts including traditional gym work, running, hiking, kayaking, swimming, golfing, calisthenics – and flipping over giant tyres.
Super-stable: Harry McNaughton and Koz Dickinson
Former Shortland Street star Harry McNaughton and his husband Koz Dickinson are also known to hit the gym together.
And they're also fans of the synchronised headstand by the looks of things.
Super-silly: Shaun Johnson and Kayla Cullen
It's a job requirement that Warriors star Shaun Johnson and Silver Fern Kayla Cullen keep fit – but that doesn't mean they won’t have fun whilst doing so.
And they especially like a good water recovery session together, apparently.
Super-brave: Toni Street and Matt France
When you work two jobs and have two young children, there isn't much time left in the day to get in some exercise.
Which is probably why The Hits broadcaster and Seven Sharp co-host Toni Street recently decided to combine family time with fitness time and attempt a family mountain biking adventure with her husband, Matt France, and their two daughters.
Mountain biking with two pre-schoolers? You're braver than the rest of us, Toni Street!
