Josh Gad, who voiced snowman Olaf in Frozen, has called co-star Kristen Bell "an angel" after she helped his family escape from Hurricane Irma.

Gad, 36, took to social media to share a picture of Bell and his parents in an Orlando hotel room, which she helped them secure to shelter from Irma.

"No joke," Gad wrote on Twitter. "@IMKristenBell just literally saved my parents, my brothers and entire family from #HurricaineIrma - you are an angel. I adore you."

"When they were stranded in Florida, she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law and niece and nephew. They don't make them like this girl. Thank you Kristin," he shared on Instagram.

All hotels in central Florida are currently at capacity.

Bell is in Florida filming her new film, Like Father, alongside Kelsey Grammer, when she became stranded. She voiced Princess Anna in Frozen with Gad playing Olaf the snowman.

Bell had earlier explained on her own Instagram that she had stocked up on provisions to ride out the storm.

"We didn't have the option to leave so here we are. Just doing our best and trying to stay positive but cautious, and trying to help those who need help prepping," she wrote. "Every person I passed today was assisting someone else- #neighborshelpingneighbors - it was beautiful to see. Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone - but happy that the community will be holding hands through this."
